WorkFirst

Program Overview

WorkFirst is a partnership between Wenatchee Valley College and the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) that helps recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) access education, training, and support services needed to enter the workforce.

Your class hours will count as your participation in the WorkFirst program through DSHS.

Eligibility

In order to qualify for WorkFirst, you must be receiving TANF benefits through DSHS. Your program specialist at DSHS must send us a referral.

Program Benefits

Eligible students can receive financial assistance for:

  • Tuition and fees
  • Required books, tools, and supplies
  • Clothing
  • Transportation
  • Testing
  • Medical
  • Personal Hygiene
  • Emergency Expenses
  • Work-Study funding up to 19 hours per week
