Physical Education

The physical education department seeks to broaden students' development mentally and physically through body conditioning, skills improvement and theory classes. Physical education courses count toward an associate of arts and sciences (transfer) degree, both as electives and as a means of satisfying part of the requirement for 10 credits of nonlab science courses.

Wenatchee Valley College offers such PE courses as step aerobics, weight training, karate, racquetball, tennis, fitness lab, theory of baseball/soccer/basketball (for team members), personal wellness, first aid and emergency response, fundamentals of recreation and leisure, athletic training, and anatomical kinesiology. Other classes are offered seasonally, such as tennis in the spring. In addition, special classes such as cross-country skiing andkayaking are often presented through the continuing education department. Hours may be arranged to meet individual student needs for fitness lab and weight-room workouts. The athletic facilities are open to any community member who enrolls in a WVC physical education class.
